To quote Senator Sheldon Whitehouse's repeated comment on Trump's DOJ, "Equal parts gangster and gong show." Funny, not funny.

Ann Telnaes's avatar

Oh, that's good!

* The Speech That History Will Remember as the Breakpoint in the Trump-Epstein-Russia Scandal

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse did not just raise questions. He assembled a pattern that becomes harder to dismiss each day.

Dear God - that link is a "must read"! It's becoming more and more like the plot of a John Le Carre book!

When you put it all together the way Senator Whitehouse did, it becomes apparent that the child abuse accusations in the Epstein file, appalling though they are, are the LEAST of trump's crimes. What the DOJ is hiding is not that trump is a sexual abuser but that he is a traitor and a Russian asset. It appears that, astonishingly, the child abuse is being used a cover for even worse crimes. Investigators are having trouble establishing proof of DJT's sex crimes and thus the DOJ is dismissing EVERYTHING in the files- but the evidence of his treachery is glaring.

Breathtaking that one small, stupid, greedy little man could be manipulated to cause such chaos to the entire world.

And the only people who could do anything about it are obviously a combination of cowardly, corrupt or compromised.

When this is over, if this IS ever over, some radical changes need to be made to the American political system to ensure it cannot happen again - and one of the first things to do is get the obscene amounts of money OUT of politics.

As I keep saying, we need a whole raft of Constitutional Amendments. We have to systematically fix all the place they used Project 2025 to breach The Constitution. IMHO we need to elevate DOJ and The Inspectors general to independent Branches of Government and give them the tools they need to hold a rogue Executive, Member of Congress, or Judge or Justice accountable and remove Them, if necessary, for trial. We also need to expand and charge SCOTUS with new mandates and some guardrails. We need to make corruption in high office the devastating scandal which it is and have adequate and unpleasant punishments.

June Kahn's avatar

Oh, yes! Please at least the effort of impeachment should begin for whatever is befalling America right now. Ugliest, stupidest president America has ever elected then endured.

June Kahn's avatar

I'm beseeching you now. Abandon trump for 100's of reasons. He isn't worthy of his two terms and surely doesn't merit an illegal third term which I strongly suspect he and henchmen will try to push through.

Audrey Eve's avatar

brilliantly stated!

June Kahn's avatar

It may not ever be over unless the greedy, power hungry members of Congress wake up and do their jobs!

June Kahn's avatar

A good start but not nearly enough to rein in the megalow maniac.

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much for posting. I was reminded, while watching this incredible, thorough, momentous speech, of something Nancy Pelosi once said, "All roads lead back to Putin."

Whitehouse did an amazing job outlining and laying out the facts, showing the corrupt and twisted connections, and emphasizing the enormity of this most outrageous cover up.

With the current "DOJ," which I put in quotation marks because they go out of their way to avoid real accountability and "justice," I'm trying to be somewhat optimistic that putting Whitehouse's brilliant account of events in the record will, someday, yield the right results and outcomes. While Trump is still president, it's a given that attempts to bury this will continue to be made, at all costs, and wars (and the like) will ensue to distract us at every turn, the closer and more persuasively this truth comes to light.

June Kahn's avatar

Do your damn jobs Congress! It's not that difficult!

Audrey Eve's avatar

Wouldn't that be nice?!

Rick Wilson says Everything Trump Touches Dies. It's also apparent that every Republican Trump touches turns yellow.

Elisabeth Birker's avatar

That was a great speech! I hope people wake up!!!

Audrey Eve's avatar

He does come out with some great ones!

June Kahn's avatar

He's probably proud of his farts since he thinks so highly of his presidency.

June Kahn's avatar

Please make him stop stop today..

100%. Though, he’s barely literate, so that’s got to be taken into account.

JimBob's avatar

Perhaps he doesn't know the meaning of obliterated or discombobulated...or how to keep a secret...or how to prevent the slaughter of American military personnel...or more likely, simply DOES NOT CARE. #DraftBarron #DraftTrump

Rob Boyle's avatar

Just today I came up with A.I.I. (Adderall Induced Illiteracy)...White House is recruiting children's book authors for intelligence briefings my sources tell me (my dog)...as he digresses, Sesame Street puppeteers will become in high demand..no matter what Doge says.

Elisabeth Birker's avatar

😂woof woof😂😂 🐾 🐾

June Kahn's avatar

The president is functionally illiterate. Why is the that imposter STILL in office? Come on Congress! Make the easy choice and rid us of this moron before he destroys us all!

ASBermant's avatar

Trump is cementing his legacy as the most destructive person on the planet.

Mike Thweatt's avatar

Not even a flag left to fly upside down … but then anybody can see we’re in distress, so maybe that’s not even a valid point anymore.

Awesome Ann - keep pounding the bastards!!

Michael Bacon's avatar

And Trump seems to think you can obliterate the same thing twice, like Iran's nuclear capability.

Stay tuned for more destruction. Trump is destroying everything we have held dear and all of the progress we have made and all of the good we have done in the world. Just in time for our 250th birthday.

Mike Thweatt's avatar

Our best hope is that the same advisors who agreed with Trump that he had “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capabilities, also deemed that he had obliterated our democracy … they could just be appeasing the Hemeroid-in-Chief again, because we know he’s still a pain in the ass.

But he is NOT a ROYAL PITA … because - NO KINGS!!!

Audrey Eve's avatar

The irony of ironies!

Elisabeth Birker's avatar

Are you the musician, Michael B?

Michael Bacon's avatar

Sorry, I'm not. I'm a retired oceanographer living in Maine. I do some amateur opinion writing -- letters to the editor in the papers up here and the occasional op-ed. I'm with an advocacy group promoting publicly funded universal health care.

Mary Gilbert's avatar

Interesting past, interesting present & future-good on you.

Elisabeth Birker's avatar

Don’t be sorry! What you do sounds amazing!!! Thank you for all of your contributions ❣️Have a great weekend!

COL Mustard's avatar

That man is such an embarrassment to our nation. I'm surprised he didn't use a Charlie Chan accent on the Japanese PM.

June Kahn's avatar

He's one more embarrassing comment every time he opens his ignorant mouth!

I’m hopeful that the world realizes especially after March 28th that it is NOT OUR WAR but the war of a failed regime that is like a radioactive ship of fools that neither their families nor their children want to belong to at all.

Brises les chaînes—ni putes ni soumises (lo mismo en español) are what thinking women sing so sweetly with open eyes.

Maybe he should be obliviated for literally obliterating Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam. March 28th is next weekend; the more we resist, the more difficult it becomes for him!

Love the two-toned neck!

Kathryn Pierce's avatar

...and very thin hair.

Freddie Baudat's avatar

Ann really does his hunch so well. And his chin taking over his neck. I wish she were in charge of that commemorative coin!

Elisabeth Birker's avatar

That coin!!! 🤮🤮🤮

Debra Wagner's avatar

So do I !! I hope somehow, some way, he sees one of Ann’s depictions of him, and it turns that orange face purple with rage!!👏👏

Freddie Baudat's avatar

Say, wouldn’t it really be something if someone managed to replace all of those Trump banners hanging in DC with one of Ann’s images of him? The problem is that he’d have some (real) presidential monuments destroyed in retaliation. What a jerk! (All of the harshest expletives combined are insufficient.)

Debra Wagner's avatar

I’m running out of adjectives to describe him, for sure!

June Kahn's avatar

Maybe he'll have his long-awaited STROKE!! HE'S ALMOST DEAD ALREADY!

Debra Wagner's avatar

Here’s to all those hamburgers, steaks and the extra scoop of ice cream with his cake!!!

I may not live that long, but yes...lifetime job security.

Again, the wee, tiny hand, the belt as a sports bra, the fat ass and my personal fave, the camel toe neck are all perfect and worth a guffaw if the damn story didn't make me want to cry.

March 28.

Put your sneakers by the door.

Thanks Ms. T

Every morning I wake up and ask, "Is he dead yet?". Everyone knows who I mean. My only solace is that one of these fine days, the answer is going to be YES!

June Kahn's avatar

The sooner, the better!

Spot on, Ann. Such a sad truth. It's beyond comprehension that the MAGA crowd sees his actions as positive. The cult is strong with this one.

Albert Studdard's avatar

"Cult" is the right word, Jim Jones and the KoolAid.

Hes also the person currently most hated around the world. He figures this war w/Iran is a simple 'excursion'. They will remember this long after trump is gone. Oh and did well mention he has added $2 trillion to the national debt since his inauguration. But his Billionaire friends are happy.
