Amazing, I don’t think you could have depicted it any better. Thanks also to the Supreme Court and the back-boneless Congress.

Jay Jay Eh's avatar

Same BS re: ‘Canadian drugs’, just his blatantly false & ridiculous excuse to levy tariffs.

If the ‘John Robert’s conservative *SCOTUS’ doesn’t clip his wings on this count then the world really does become Donald’s oyster!

OIL /Distraction: Trump arrests ONE drug lord but pardons another — the only difference is their usefulness to himself & their ‘tithing’ so it was never about the drugs. 💰

June Kahn's avatar

Excellent! Especially about swapping one drug kingpin for another. If Americans don't see through all of his scams WE all will suffer even more than we have in the past year. Remember, his desired outcome is retribution, not "Make America Great Again"!

Mike Thweatt's avatar

Oops! I think you meant “Make Argentina Great Again” didn’t you?

Julius Marold's avatar

It's up to Congress to clip his wings but those congress critters who aren't in the oligarch's pockets are too afraid to do anything. Look what's happened to everyone who has tried to stop him.

Jay Jay Eh's avatar

True, But if they got their act together & acted on principle / for we the people … Trump wdnt HAVE that ‘power’. He only has the power that is GIVEN him by cowards & lapdogs.

Mike Thweatt's avatar

Then we need to put pressure on the cowards and lapdogs to stop cowtowing to “The Big 0”

If they’re uncomfortable not doing his bidding, we need to make it MORE uncomfortable for them to follow his wishes.

I don’t know exactly what that looks like, but reelection pressure is a good start - especially for members of the House and the third of the senators up for reelection this year.

Jay Jay Eh's avatar

Republicans ARE now feeling that power — causing an unprecedented number to not run to keep their seats 2026.

The NO KINGS & HANDS OFF rallies, boycotts of Trump’s billionaire class oligarch businesses, Fox News, X etc. & other varied forms of protest are working — aided by voices on ‘independent media’ 🔹 such as substack.

Can we hope that this latest crime by Trump is one too many even for the Unsupreme Court. This might not be on their to do list.

Jay Jay Eh's avatar

They can’t play dead AND dumb indefinitely!

If they do, the (proverbial) pitchfork protests will happen all the sooner!

Linda Weide's avatar

Bob, I agree. We need to keep our eyes on the domestic as well. Our Congress needs to be overturned as well. Then then impeachment of members of SCOTUS and MAGA starting with Trump and JDVance.

Garland was not nearly as feckless as Trump’s potted House & Senate plants. 🌿

Two golden opportunities to rid themselves of him down the drain.

— they rarely get called on it, easier to blame ONE man than how many 100’s GOP?

Jay Phinizy's avatar

Feckless all the same. At the very, least naive! Does not make it ok, nonetheless!! - another Jay!!

Jay Jay Eh's avatar

Hi Jay ! I say among the *degrees of fecklessness the GOP outdo Garland.

Garland was dotting his i’s & crossing his t’s in prosecuting.

The GOP actively & passively supported Trump’s entire agenda.

— world of difference in intent & culpability.

Jay Phinizy's avatar

Fair enough. I thought much the same until I began to believe that the AG procrastinated all to much and erred on the side of being "too" careful - leaving us with DJT's ability to run the clock! There is absolutely no excuse for the Republican Caucus who abrogated their responsibilities to the nation and their constuency. It's all a matter of degrees but neither Congress nor the Biden's AG fulfilled their obligation to the nation and the oath they took!! - I took very seriously my oath when I got elected to the NH "General Court." just sayin' - Jay

I am not a fan of Maduro and really don’t mind him being captured and tried. The problem I have with these actions against Venezuela is that we, the United States, lose our standing as a moral nation. We no longer have the high ground to complain about Russia attacking Ukrainian nor do we have much moral say in trying to convince China not to attack Taiwan. In fact I would be quite certain that both Putin and Xi are, if not smiling, then laughing their asses off over the actions of the moron who claims to be our President.

Laurel Rutz's avatar

Don, you correctly stated the most tragic aspect of the Venezuelan Strike. The United States has now abandoned the position of integrity we have held since the United Nation Charter first protected the sovereignty of nations.

I would much prefer to lose our corrupt leader, than lose this honorable reputation!

Don G's avatar

Laurel, your comment is spot on. I’ve actually dreamed of an event like the one perpetrated on Venezuela but one where a foreign attacker kidnaps Trump and as much of his corrupt family and friends as a large plane can carry.

Mike Thweatt's avatar

We even have a plane we can give them to take back with them

The only caveat is “no take backs!”

Laurel Rutz's avatar

Ann, your drawing once again knocks your political truth “out of the park! Not just the Intense Hollywood light on the boxes of Epstein Files, and Jack Smith’s damning Insurrection Prosecution Briefs. I really appreciated your background drawing of Felon47 with a super-sized smoking gun in one tiny hand, while the other grasps an oil drum that dwarfs his own body’s circumference. Your art clearly illustrates our corrupt president’s frustration! The soft glow of media attention is STILL persistently focused on him!

Mary Gilbert's avatar

Exactly. Follow Richard Haas’ newsletter as he makes very good points about this and other of the current administration’s motivations.

ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE! Is that what "America First" is all about? Does that mean he is America? How many billions richer is he going to be at the end of this "adventure?"

The world situation is getting scarier by the day as long as this dangerous asshole and his handlers are in place.

Your drawing is another bullseye, Ann. It's a sad new year.

No one draws like Ann Telnaes. Devastating.

When LBJ asked Congress to pass the Tonkin Gulf Resolution in 1964, a resolution based on a lie, he promised that "our response, for the present, will be limited and fitting… We still seek no wider war." Ten years and 50,000+ dead GIs later, helicopters evacuated the last Americans from a Saigon rooftop.

Long after Trump's name has been removed from the Kennedy Center his legacy will not be the Arch of Triumph he dreams of, it will more likely be a memorial to the men and women killed in this unprovoked and unwinnable war that he and Lethal Pete have been determined to add to their resumes.

Mary Gilbert's avatar

Yes, tRump & Hegseth have just de-stablized a very dangerous & heavily armed country in their effort to gain oil company rights, mineral rights, etc. Meduro is a tyrant to be sure, but regime change has not gone well for the US in the past.

“Folly often does not spring from a great design, and its consequences are frequently a surprise. The folly lies in persistence – pursuit of a policy contrary to the self-interest of the constituency or state involved, despite the fact that a workable alternative course of action was known to exist.”

This is exactly what you get when you gave a cornered rat with a finger on the trigger. Scarily — this is likely phase 1… phase 2 will be clamping down on any dissent due to Wartime restrictions…. Dissent will become treason unless we act now to remove Trumphuk and the Trumphukians CABAL from office. Impeach Trump now!

The ever-conniving DonOld: hiding the evidence in thoseTrumpstein files, distracting to avoid Jack Smith's recorded deposition, and stopping the inquisition about his health (records of which are with his tax returns). Extraordinarily depicted, Ann!

Rene Townsend's avatar

This is exactly "on target" - anything to distract. However, it won't happen as more Americans are understanding how dangerous he is to our country and the world. It's really something when a felon releases a felon drug lord then captures a felon president from another country because of drugs!

Any chance another country...Russia comes to mind as it's run by a felon...would capture the pitiful guy in the White House. I'll chip in for the flight.

June Kahn's avatar

Believe me, Putin doesn't want that piece of trash around either. He tolerates trump and his mad antics for some obscure reason but remember that Putin is waaay smarter than trump and he's plotting his course right now.

Mary Gilbert's avatar

Yes-Putin and Xi are likely salivating…

Judy Drake's avatar

Think Putin enjoys manipulating the low IQ pumpkin head

June Kahn's avatar

I agree. Putin is chuckling as he watches trump's demise. We're not in a good position of power because we don't respect the Orange Menace. Many of us are varied on whether trump is the best or the worst president. trump will mostly determine that choice.

June Kahn's avatar

He's so chaotic that many people don't believe he is making America great again.

June Kahn's avatar

You know know what happens to rotten pumpkin heads...the farmer feeds them to the pigs.

June Kahn's avatar

Well, what a difference an hour or two makes! My son called me about 5pm to ask if I was watching CNN. I was taking a break from the news in general. Then he brought me up to date on Venezuela's corrupt, strong-arm dictator being taken into United States custody. I have mixed feelings. But my hope is that things don't escalate with other countries participating against us. I wonder how pure trump's goals are. Saving America from the very real scourge of drugs or distraction from trump's endless drop in the polls? Of course it couldn't be about money or oil, right?
