The Pulitzer Prizes in NYC
It's been a ride
As I posted back in May, winning the Pulitzer this year was a complete surprise, coming after the unexpected and overwhelming worldwide response to my quitting the Washington Post. This past week I was in NYC for the ceremonies, 24 years after winning my first.
I had a lovely time but have to admit I’ve been experiencing mixed emotions. While I’m truly grateful for the honor- I will especially cherish the jurors statement- and appreciate all the kind words I received at the ceremony (a Post editor even offered sincere congratulations), I can only push aside the reality temporarily.
Back to work.

I am so proud for you! An honor earned and well deserved! You set yourself apart from the crowd with integrity and distinction.
So well deserved. Your courage is our guide. Please keep it up.
