Trump's fear
The Colbert Talarico interview isn't just about the F.C.C
There’s been a lot of coverage the last couple of days about how CBS barred Stephen Colbert from interviewing on his late-night show the Democratic Senator candidate James Talarico from Texas. Colbert then aired the interview on YouTube, which as of today, has 6.6 million views proving again if you censure stuff, they will come. I encourage you to watch it,not just to push back on media companies who cave to Trump, but to understand what is keeping Trump awake at night.
Texas State Representative Talarico is a seminarian, a critic of the religious right, and a strong supporter of the Separation of Church and State. Trump is relying on his Christian base to win the midterms (and keep him from being impeached) and Talarico is a direct threat to the Republican controlled Texas Senate seat.
I am also a strong supporter for the Separation of Church and State. If you’re old enough, you’ll remember how much influence Christian fundamentalists like Jerry Falwell and his Moral Majority organization as well as the televangelist Pat Robertson had in U.S. politics in the early 1980s. Here are some cartoons about the subject from my archives.

I especially like the reincarnation one, but they're all great!
What a catalog! Each perfect in its very specific goal…but the last one may be my favorite. It’s always mystified me that those who demand prayer in schools don’t ever imagine that their fundamentalist Christian prayer could soon be supplanted by a Catholic one— possibly even in Latin! There’s something so childlike about people who can’t fathom others’ belief in their own deities.
It reminds me of my favorite comeback to religionists: we’re all atheists— we just don’t believe in different gods.
