When a woman runs for president

I had hoped to keep the majority of this substack for my animated short Open Windows and other non-political subjects but recent events have forced me to change my focus. I’ll still do updates but since the presidential race has now completely turned on its head, I’ll be commenting on that as well.

We’ll start off with the news media’s coverage of women candidates. I’m old enough to remember the sexist press coverage of Hillary as First Lady, her senatorial campaign, and her run for the presidency. I’m not talking about criticizing her policy positions (I did plenty of cartoons blasting Hillary for her position on the Iraq War), but her appearance and personality. Keep your ears and eyes open for the same to happen with Kamala Harris.
