Agreed Lawrence, but what should we do?

Massive protests, boycotts and anything else that will get the attention of our local and state leaders. Make it clear that we will not tolerate them letting the Traitor destroy our country. Vote the cowards OUT this November.

Massive cancellations of Amazon subscriptions and boycotts of anything that Musk sells. Hit the oligarchs where it hurts.

I have enjoyed and honored the Kennedy Center but no more...I propose a complete boycott until Pumpkinhead and his cronies restore free speech. Having that gutter scum determine program violates every sense of common decency...as he wants to shut down PBS, ruin VOA, and interfere with voting. OMG, I think I am having a meltdown...Call the Decency Police.

Thank you for graphically highlighting the White Supremacy that is endemic in this regime. It's much more effective than showing/describing them as "insensitive' or "racist".

I want to thank Ann for not showing him from the front. I’m still recovering from his take on white tie from his meeting w the Queen. That dangling vest was a real head-scratcher. Or maybe stomach-turner is the phrase I want…or lip-curler?

Expand full comment

I'm a Canadian and someone who loved the Queen from the time, as a small child, I saw her as a beautiful princess standing beside her handsome prince, waving at me from the back of a train.

I was so enraged that Trump forced the Queen to host/endure him and his deplorable déclassé family! And that ridiculous tux! OMG!!! And his rudeness and lack of decorum... he even turned his back on her and then actually walked in FRONT of her!!!! An unforgiveable insult to her- and through her to those of us she represented.

If I hadn't already despised Trump about as much as is humanly possible before he inflicted himself and his useless spawn on her I certainly would have done so then.

Thank you for this, Maria Jette:)

I was just watching some TV coverage of whatever Trump and couldn't take my eyes off the shoulders of his blue jacket- he was seated and leaning forward rather than standing as he usually is when on camera...and you could so plainly see how elongated and exaggerated his jacket shoulders were by seeing how much closer to his body his arms were than they could possibly be if, in fact, they were hanging from his actual shoulders. Looked so very strange.

So. He wears make-up. His hair is false. His clothing is designed to make him look broad-shouldered (and therefore slimmer) he told about 4000 documented lies while last in office and has lied blatantly about his affairs with women-and sexually assaulting them, etc., etc., etc. yet his followers worship him because he is so 'real', so 'honest'.

Makes me want to vomit!

Expand full comment

Really LOOKING at him is never a good idea for one’s mental health! Unavoidable if you don’t want to spend the next 4 years crashing into things, though, since his repulsive image is all around us.

By the way: some noble soul at WaPo (I hate to mention the place, given Ann’s recent even nobler exit from it) kept a running total of his lies and “misleading statements” during his first term. The final tab: 30,573!

And remember, those are just the ones he was telling in public or on Twitter etc., so the real total is probably at least 50% higher.

I expect his first production will be "The Producers". Then he'll move on to the Nazi symphonies, Luftwaffe serenades, and Wehrmacht operas of Richard Wagner (Adolph's favorite music). And symphonic renditions of "Deutschland uber Alles" and the Horst Wessel song.

Expand full comment

That all sounds a bit highbrow. Recall that as a young man, Hitler attempted to pursue a career as an artist and, for a while, made a meager living selling his paintings. And Wagner was a highly skilled classical composer showing that even evil men can appreciate good music. I think the most likely acts will be along the lines of monologues by Clint Eastwood, bands like The Village People, singers like Cary Underwood and comics like Elon Musk.

Expand full comment

You have a point. Perhaps those symphonies, etc., will be performed by someone along the lines of Spike Jones.

Expand full comment

I object! Spike Jones was a genius, and his performances and recordings were meticulously scored and rehearsed! Leave Spike out of it, and that goes for anyone Spike-like, because to be that funny you have to be VERY VERY VERY smart.

No, I think Kid Rock will do a bang up job of desecrating the Kennedy Center. Having heard his recent partial performance of Proud Mary, I’m confident it’s exactly what incoming KC Center Chairman Trump will love.

Mary..the mere mention of Spike Jones ..bells & whistles... accompanying Don Juan in Hell on stage ...looking like a graceless elephant in white tie & tails is an image that sent me laughing ' till the tears rolled down.my cheeks..Is he so blind as to.not grasp just how comical.he appears to others?.How laughable.???How can anyone in.their right mind not feel how grotesque.he must appear???

Not even the aura and opulence of the Kennedy.Center could make a silk purse out of that " sow's" ear..

"Springtime for Hitler" would perfectly describe this administration's take on how to destroy a country from within. Mel Brooks's "The Producers" is genius, unlike the "stable genius" who's tanking our country and trying his best to tank the entire world's economies because of his hair-brained America First policy.

Not really. A paraphrasing of what Truman said about Nixon applies, "He has the strange anatomical feature of being able to interchange his mouth and his asshole" Of course with Trump, I would posit that he has the strange anatomical feature of having TWO assholes and the one between his legs actually puts out more intelligent and useful material.

Expand full comment

He certainly does. I've long noticed that his pursed mouth is anatomically identical to an anal sphincter.

Here's one for you...have you ever considered how much Trump resembles a hagfish?

'Hagfish are the only known living animals that have a skull but no vertebral column, although they do have rudimentary vertebrae.' And they look like him, too...
