You can blame this on Johnson you, can blame it on Trump but remember: with the exception of just two every last one of the Republicans voted in the BBB without reading it. Therein lies the tragedy.

The other tragedy is the fact that the traitor called tRump was elected to the White, now Black, House. We must take care of that at the next election-- If, indeed, there is a next election. Remember: "Vote for me and you will never have to vote again."

That quote should be the rallying cry which is hung around Trump's neck like the Albatross in the "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". you will never vote again - attributed to Donald Trump.

Nah, I love the way Ann portrays him: wide-eyed, smiling vacuously, eager to please his betters (masters?) by doing their bidding no matter what. Ann, the one thing you might do with the little ("ugly piece of excrement") is give him a permanently wagging tail.

Yes, you understand that the oligarchs have brought back the eugenics movement.

We the people are the inefficiency.

Expand full comment
The Unk's avatar

It’s much more than oligarchs, and it has nothing to do with the eugenics movement.

It’s about 250 years of rich people seeing poor people as riff-raff, disposable, and not deserving of a place at the table.

It’s Ebenezer Scrooge expecting the poor to die and decrease the surplus population. It’s about the privileged, entitled Haves expecting the Have-Nots to be quiet, not cause trouble, and even go away.

Jonni's avatar

Yes, the privileged attitude has always been there, but now the privileged are actively taking away food assistance, medical care, medical research, vaccines, public and worker safety regulations, consumer product safety, weather forecasting, FEMA, public information about disease outbreaks or drug recalls from the CDC and FDA. We are all more likely to die now than we were on January 19th. The oligarchs expect us to die and stop taking up resources they believe they can put to better use.

Trump, Musk and DOGE (which really stands for Demagogs & Oligarchs are Government Employees Bwahahahaha!) have a message for all you libs:

“OK you’ve had your fun, now we’re going to take the reins back and get rid of all these namby pamby, let’s all get warm and fuzzy wuzzy, and help all the Tiny Tim’s of the world, so we can all feel like Ebenezer at the end of the story.

Well we ARE Ebenezer in the first 90% of the book, and a serious BAH HUMBUG to you. Enjoy your lump of coal - sorry it’s a little messy but for some reason it wouldn’t hold its shape after it was burnt.

We don’t care what you say about us when we’re dead, our families will continue to wallow in the money we fleeced from you great big bunch of suckers! And Trump had it SO right! The biggest suckers out there are the ones who gave their lives - you call them ‘selfless heroes’ and we call them ‘the biggest losers’.

Like George HW Bush said about eating broccoli - you’re not gonna make me eat concessions on ANYthing!

When Reagan said “Let the bombing begin” he wasn’t talking about Russia … or the USSR, whatever … he was talking about you! Russia was the cover up. Just like THIS time BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

So just like before, hold yer nose and grab yer toes - and get ready because … we’eeeeerrrrr baaaaaaaaaacccccckkkkkk!!!!!”

Yes, but Ebenezer Scrooge eventually, thanks to the Spirits, saw the light and got back on the right path.

The Haves, like so many others, see poverty as a moral wrong and the Have-nots as morally corrupt. Therefore, the Have-nots should continue not to have and should even have what little they do possess confiscated and taken away.

Denise, you're right. The Senate will cave because Dumpty will barge into chambers and threaten them exactly as he did with the House. What I can NOT grok is why. They can't all really believe what's happening, this shock-and-awe, chaotic catastrophe, can they? Really? Why are they all so terrified? Cannot they see that when he achieves his goal of dictatorship, they'll all be out of a job anyway? He won't need anyone except his cadre of loyalists, the Clown Car Cabinet. And Praetorians; don't forget Praetorians.

You could be right, but then, why put him on the throne in the first place? It makes no sense. The apparatchiks surrounding Stalin were terrified of him, but they were born into their situation; they couldn't help it. These cowardly hypocrites (great line) think they are feathering their nests by supporting the Mango Menace. The thing about republicons is, they could not care less for anyone outside their tight little family of evildoers. The problem they have with Woke is, as Jane Fonda recently defined it, "Woke just means you give a damn about other people." "Conservatives" do not give a damn about anybody.
