Oh Ann. This is beyond superb. I offer the following quote to MAGA Mike from the Rev. Jim Wallis: "Christianity is not a religion that gives some people a ticket to heaven and makes them judgmental of all others. Rather, it’s a call to a relationship that changes all our other relationships."

I hope MAGA Mike has a special place at Hitler's "stammtisch" (Regulars' table) for the aggregate evil he has perpetrated.

Mike and his ilk are the typical so-called christians: everything written in the bible applies only to others, never to themselves.

Mike’s not the only worshiper, by any means. But he’s the most disgustingly subservient.

The problem is not just Johnson. It’s the entire Republican Congress. They have allowed their co equal powers to be usurped and they have become political eunuchs.

Do those false Christians actually know they are bending a knee to the Beast?

ASBermant's avatar

They don't care . . . they are doing their almighty best to achieve the final Rapture (i.e. end the world as we know it so they can join their dead brethren and forever be with their Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). They are on their way to achieving their goal! 😵‍💫

One wonders (I know I open many of my comments thus); however, one must wonder what sort of corruption happens to "devout" people who insist they have "faith," but their faith is as flimsy as a biodegradable paper straw. Their faith is only performative, what I learned years ago is called lip service.

Christian nationalists' hero now must be Mike Johnson. ... until his name is found in the "files."

I think some stupidity and lack of direction are involved. Like the pitiful lonely children who succumbed to reverend jim Jones’s “gospel” all those years ago. Social misfits who sell their souls to feel like they belong to the club, er cult. All that is required is blind obedience and willingness to accept the lies.

Fear comes first. Corruption comes afterwards. The deep need to be part of the group/tribe/congregation. They’re terrified of being ostracized and outcast. Centuries of indoctrinating people to comply, to be part of the group (tribe).

It would help those folks if they'd been born introverted. I have spent my life avoiding being part of a group and taking orders. It's my nature to question authority and why they expect me to comply. My usual response to commands from strangers is, " ... and you are ... ?" Btw, my life is not anchored in FOMO.
