Hard to click a "like" button when the subject is so somber. Wish editorial cartoonists could have a "nailed it" button. You certainly did, once again.

What we really need is for mainstream news media to embrace Ann's brilliant political cartoons and feature them blown up on the front pages.

It is a mystery to me why people in rural areas voted for this president when it means no healthcare for them.

Ahh but the sneaky Trumpists put off having the Medicaid cuts take effect until 2027 just in case Dems win in 2026.

Yes. And hospitals are starting to close already.

Dems won't win in 2026; it is past time to let go of the dream of a fair election; it will not happen under Trump. I don't like to be the bearer of bad news, but it is way past time to face reality. Do you think Putin holds fair elections? Dictators do not allow fair elections, period that is how they stay in power and Trump will never relinquish power.

I can’t give up hoping the many groups of Activists will change enough minds and hearts. Remember only about 1/3 of the citizens who could vote voted for Trump. Already with ICE hounding and disappearing their friends, a number of the Trump voters have said they made a mistake. Forewarned is Forearmed.

Rural people tend to be part of the “Stick it to the Liberals!” mindset. They don’t vote for a candidate; they vote AGAINST the Liberals, Democrats, Progressives, et al.

Any con man politician who touts patriotism and demonizes “the Libs” will get their vote!

1. Some people voted for Trump because he promised to not touch Medicaid, Medicare, the ACA, Social Security, etc. He also said he would lower the costs of food and housing and lower inflation. These people (such as A LOT of young people) realized they’d been duped right away when DOGE took a sledge hammer to federal agencies, firing 100s of thousands of federal workers, rendering many agencies unable to function safely and efficiently. It’s been a shit show.

2. Then came Trump’s INSANE tariffs which crashed markets and created economic chaos around the world, not to mention alienating our allies. Polling shows that Trump is now way underwater with voters 18-29, 30-45, many of whom voted for him in 2024 because of what he promised.

3. Other people voted against their own best interests because Trump lied about everything and it was amplified by Fox noise and the right wing media sphere. These people are Trump’s base (at least the white ones are) and he could do anything and they’d still be loyal.

Just a few thoughts. Trump is deeply unpopular as are all of his policies.
