He has no idea what the

Constitution says, or

what it actually means.

As for the others? Birds

of a feather; been

plucked and baked in

Trump's special sauce.

I suspect he does know. This is his way of announcing (with deniability - in his tiny mind) that he has no intention of abiding by it ... never mind upholding or defending it.

The others? Well they quite like the idea of scrapping the Constitution, especially if Trump says it for them ... giving them deniability.

Cowardice, avarice, and amorality should always be assumed as their default setting.

I might be an idiot, but I could have sworn the oath he swore on January 20th, both in 2017 and now in 2025, specifically states that as president it is his duty to uphold or defend the Constitution of the United States of America. I'll have to research that.

Great job, Ann.

Yup, just found it:

The presidential oath of office is: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." This oath is specified in Article II, Section 1, Clause 8 of the U.S. Constitution.

So, once again, he should be impeached just for that dumb answer on the Sunday talk show.

“And will to best of my ability” now that’s a problem for him!

Didrik's avatar

Yes, for that, too. How about for simply lying while swearing the oath? For him, it seems to be _only_ a ceremonial public relations event, rather than taking an oath before millions of witnesses to his several lies in one sentence. Foreign leaders who "trust" Trump's word must equally be morons. Of course, they don't and they aren't.

They know he's a clown "who walks on the earth to and fro," like Mephistopheles.

He probably thought if he didn't place his hand on the Bible, he didn't need to uphold the oath.

Didn't put his hand on the bible, posts image of himself as the Pope (not to mention his adultery with a porn star), yet the faithful see him as their savior. I don't and never will understand what his appeal is the anyone.

Racism…he say out loud what his worshipers have thought since slavery, but afraid to say out loud since it was abolished…but really still goes on, just in a variety of ways. Don’t get me started…

That would only work if he thought that maneuver held any meaning for him. Recall his posing with upside-down Bible until someone else fixed it for him.

Well it did count because he gave his verbal oath …

BUT … He then used the get-out-of-jail-free card that he got from his photo op across the street from the WH during term #1 (where he shame-walked Barr and the Joint Chiefs across the street).

BUT … What the Stable Genius didn’t realize was that by holding the Bible upside down in that photo op, the effectivity of the card had drained out over the yearsw.

BUT … Like in Ann’s last offering, Trump is screaming “This isn’t my fault!” And believe it or not, Trump is right!! For once!! Since the problem was the effectivity of the card, this is very clearly a DOGE failure and we can blame Musk for this too.

Politics can be SO confusing … 😵‍💫 Thank you Ann for providing a “Clarifying” POV 😂

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

May 5, 2025 Per the Washington Post -

The 2025 Pulitzer Prize for Illustrated Reporting and Commentary goes to…..(dramatic pause)…..

Ann Telnaes!! 🏆

For delivering piercing commentary on powerful people and institutions with deftness, creativity – and a fearlessness that led to her departure from “a certain” news organization after 17 years. (The Pulitzer Prize website).

Ann, you are the Best of the Best!

Atrocity all around. Immune to the impact of its actions. Unmoved by its appalling treatment of other human beings. Beyond the reach of truth. The Lynch mob lives out its life in denial, unbowed by the horrendous nature of its deed. There was no justice for Wounded Knee. Or any of the travesties throughout history. And no one will pay here. But. Those of us who know will not look away, and will bear witness throughout time and beyond time. We will not forget. Or forgive. Or allow them to forget. We know what they have done, and are doing. We will tend the flame of their shame forever.

Agree! Possibly also to the Senate that acquitted him the first & second times; and likely also to the Supreme Court that, overall, is as deaf and stupid as Lady Justice is blind. What have they wrought? Not iron, but weak, moldy and wet, slippery, rotting, noodley interpretations of a fine document.

Trump has abrogated his oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution. Meaning, he's no longer President. Same with his VP and cabinet, all of whom took the same oath. Thus, his Presidential Orders can be ignored.
